Insomnia

I sit in darkness

By Susan F WeimerPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

As I wander through my home

I ponder during the night alone

Sleepless hours spent with dread

While hapless images fill my head

I picture others in their beds

Lovely dreams within their heads

I picture those a world away

happily going about their day

I sit in darkness watching stories

Upon the screen in all their glories

Munching snacks which I'll regret

When upon the scale next time I step

Lonely feeling through the night

Am I alone within this plight

Alone I watch the sun arise

Sleepless again it's no surprise

Always seeking

never sleeping

Insomnia has its grip on me.
