an ant problem is one of the worst infestations.

they get one taste, a single morsel of what

they crave, and they never leave.

ants are methodical

they create habits based on past rewards

perhaps I am an ant

finding a breadcrumb of affection

and returning constantly

often bringing along my colony

eventually attracting the queen

the anxiety that sets up a home in my brain

year after year.

what I'm saying is

don't leave scraps out

unless you have an ant farm

or an exterminator on speed dial

ants are notoriously hard to tolerate

I should know

I am an ant.
