Independence Day

Celebrate in flaming glory

The smell of smoke excites

My tempest mind

The vault door’s cracked

Safe unlocked

I've dug out the powder

Bombs have been broken out

I’ve played every part

Expected of me

Recited each scripted line perfectly

I graduated and checked the slate

Found marks in the ledger

That didn’t relate

I’ll set the table

Carve the roast

You take your ease

You deserve the most

The smell of roasting hog

Permeates the air

Neighbors won’t be long

You thought I would

Stay for a while?

Pull up a chair?

I'm celebrating

My Independence day

It’s only right you

Watch me walk away

From the bridges you built

As they burn in

Bursting glory

A demonstration of

Everything I beheld

As your ward and folly
