Poetry: Losing touch with someone you cared about

By Rilee AreyPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I just lost touch with you,

I didn't want to, or mean to,

our lives just unfolded in front of us,

it was never anything more or less,

Than where we were in our lives,

there was no blow out fight,

or loss of life,

our conversations just ran dry,

and occasionally from time to time.

your absence still catches my mind,

and I begin to wonder where you landed,

if the dreams you dreamt were ever planned,

if you're still at home close with your fam,

or if you got out in the world sticking your toes in the sand,

I think about where your heart remains,

If you are doing okay,

if you too are so far from being the same,

of who we used to be,

our memories filled with so much beauty,

but further and further from where it easy to see,

and I wonder if you too ever remember me,

because although I lost touch with you,

your presence is still painted on my skin,

and everyday, I would do it all again,

because it was with you,

The excitement of you,

has since become overdue,

but you are still a brush stroke in my life,

and for that reason, I am grateful you are alive,

For you I dream life will be more than enough,

even with us, no longer being in touch.
