In these eyes is a story of pain,

There are tears and sadness,

Unhappiness, loneliness;

A saddened voice who lived many years of shame.

These eyes have seen things one should

never see.

They have seen bruises and tears,

Faced many fears.

These eyes have been opened to the

the joy of 2023,

They have learned life is beautiful,

not just full of misery.

As we enter the new year,

These eyes will wipe every

tear.

They will face life with no fear,

For beneath these eyes;

Joy is near.

Behind these beautiful, sad eyes,

A survivor cries.

Behind these beautiful sad eyes,

A survivor has survived.

I hope that you enjoyed this poem which is based on a survivor trying to find joy as we step into 2023. If you did, please heart my story to show me, or you could send me an optional tip to support my work.

Thank you, and as we move to the new year, I wish you all peace, joy, and happiness.
