In the Sunlight

I dream of you.

In the Sunlight

the waves glisten

and the seagulls shriek their morning news.

I hold my own hand

as I look out on the clouds looming in.

What will they bring?

You once stood beside me here.

We laughed at a shooting star in the night

with so little care and

sand in our hair as we lay pondering

what new adventures we'd take.

I remember your face

in a fleeting sort of way,

like a shooting star

falling across my brain in a second,

trailing light behind it,

softer when viewed directly.

Isn't it funny?

How memories change so quickly,

morphing to fit our hearts' desires

as we hold our own hands,

the seagulls shriek their morning news and

the waves glisten

in the Sunlight.
