I once saved a girl on Downing Street in the middle of the night

She was walking alone, but only according to her

quickly forgetting who she was and drowning in the quiet moonlight

..

Her dress, covered in grass stains and flowers, was an off colored white

And you could see her mind bending through time and falling stars

I once saved a girl on Downing Street in the middle of the night

..

I could feel her heat escaping her sternum like she was in a silent fight

Cold and ragged stones burying themselves into her soles

quickly forgetting who she was and drowning in the quiet moonlight

..

I opened her eyes slowly even though I knew something wasn’t right

but couldn’t decide if her fall was from drifted identity or superfluous pain

I once saved a girl on Downing Street in the middle of the night

..

Her thumbs hardened, thoughts formidable, and blurred eyesight

Taking a breath in between every other incessant scroll

quickly forgetting who she was and drowning in the quiet moonlight

..

The stones softened as I whispered this is not your last fight

And then I saw her strength rising up from 4,094 ancestors

I once saved a girl on Downing Street in the middle of the night

quickly forgetting who she was and drowning in the quiet moonlight

Whoaaa, this was so powerful! Loved your Villanelle! Also, is 4094 a random number or does it hold any significance?
