In the direction of the stars

A Verse

By Rather FordPublished about a year ago 1 min read
In the direction of the stars

Shouting my name, just as our predecessors once did,

a period of devastation and conflict.

A prayer, a plea, a plead

their dismal tones

all desiring the freedom of their spirits.

In the night sky, I blaze.

auditing every cry they made

and claiming them as my own.

I would fly you all away from the agony if I had wings.

returning there in that moment alongside the orchard

back to a time with no disorder.

But I am only part of the night,

a time where my fire is allowed to ignite.

Helpless to the cries,

I let my flames rise,

To the stars around, let them dream of a world better than the last,

to live a life not consumed of the past,

Allow a love to last forever.

and the stars above, who do pay attention, as they gaze at us,

Encourage such aspirations to come true.
