In Silence
Row upon row within me in silence they rest,
Things I need to say, beating within my chest.
Some large, some small but important all,
Waiting for the spirit and my soul to call.
Tired of being resentful wanting to blurt them out,
Unlocking the floodgate like an opened spout.
For it is better to say them a truth to defend,
Than to languish in bitterness to no good end.
I’m told by many that you get what you give,
But since this is true, I’ve watched how I’ve lived.
It’s not for the return, the bounty many seek,
That I walk this path that causes some to shriek.
I wait for my time, my moment, my release,
When all is done and I’ll see my increase.
Then in that hour those trumpeting voices inside,
Will proclaim what’s right pushing all others aside.
So let me wonder and ponder and meander along,
This cluttered walkway, some byway alone.
T’was my intention to be a servant remaining calm,
And wait until the silence engulfs me meet the dawn.
