I stopped to smell the roses,
as philosophers advise it.
Alas, no cure -
I'd stood in manure
that was on the ground beside it.
I took my shoe (with my foot in it)
and scraped it on the grass,
But as I turned
I quickly learned
I'd stepped in it again, as I passed.
And so, I threw my shoes away,
as my mood, by now, was sour -
and all because
I chose to pause
to smell a flipping flower.
