In My Dreams

That Smile

Following the dreams of others has filled my days

I don’t make waves, to ensure nothing more is expected

All the while smiling to myself, enjoying my secret I choose not to share

But when the day is over, and I am no longer pulled to and fro

This is my time, my moments of happiness, my reason to exist

I am anticipating when I can immerse every fiber of my being into your arms

Finally, my palate’s craving of you can be satisfied

I remember the day, I felt this warm and tingling sensation along my back

I quickly turned around and there you were

You apparently already knew, but soon after, I followed suite

Every dream I ever had, made sense at that very moment

My dreams were only of your smile, but it was enough to know that we belonged together

I became higher with each intoxicating glance

I felt foolish at first, I must be the only one that feel this,

I became angry and immediately shut my emotions down

I felt the warm sensation again, but this time all over my body

Abruptly, turning to shoo this feeling away

You caught me in mid turn, all the while disarming every wall of fear

You looked at me and there it was that smile

The smile that said we belong together

The smile that said I am worth fighting for

The smile that said, the search is over, and I'm the only one for you!

About the Creator

Angela

In recent years, I have come to appreciate the serenity and reflection writing affords me. I did not realize how therapeutic or the countless places I could escape with my writing. I guess you could say I am a late bloomer.
