Imperial Guard, Who Watches By Night

Stabbing Light šŸ’”

By Rowan Finley Published 3 years ago • 1 min read

dark edges

heart wedges

candle flame

soulful shame

simple being

world agreeing

or rebelling

people repelling

popcorn crunching

mind bunching

goofy animation

still sensation

hold me someone

I’ll run

to you

I flew

far away

some day

they’ll know

the truth

the couth

that befriended

and mended

my years

and tears

of youth

that went poof

stronger arms

and charms

in pools

for fools

and cereal

or imperial

guards who

blew

slick secrets

and limericks

down my sleeves

up pet peeves

around the corner

of the former

last name

and funny game

we played

and ever-prayed

through toils

and garden’s soils

through every faze

and gritty days

Love how ā€œimperial guardsā€ and ā€œcerealā€ sit side by side—it’s such a sly little wink that makes the whole piece feel alive. šŸ™ƒ
