This particular poem makes me want to ask a question. Do you ever write a poem that you feel so deeply in your soul that it almost hurts? I know that's a strange question and maybe I'm just a strange person but every time I read this poem I still feel it as deeply as I did while I was writing it, while my heart was breaking. I don't know I'm just curious...

You're gone.
I will never
see you,
touch you,
breathe you in
again.
But in my words
you will be
immortalized.
I assure you
my darling
that with my pen
as witness
you will be painted
in deep strokes
of ink
to lie penned
on soft supple paper
where
I will describe
your laugh,
your eyes,
the way you
tuck your hair
behind your ear.
You will and
have already been
quoted,
described,
and yes,
cried over
baptized
in tears and ink
hundreds of times.
Some will see you
as a Villain while
others will swear
you are a Goddess.
But with pen in hand
I will write you
always with love
As mine.
My hair to stroke,
My lips to kiss.
And when you leave
as inevitably
you always do
I'll beg for
your return.
Alas,
you'll be gone,
but I promise
you'll live forever
always as
the only story
that ever really
mattered.
