Immaculate

As Always

It would be Immaculate

If I could manage to skew

The perception I give of

Being Pathetic

If I could flip the switch

of me down here

to instead be high

on the pedestal with you

It would be Immaculate

If I was good enough

to walk beside you

And never have to undo

Any heartache I may cause

It would be everything

If I could weave my persona to

flirt with yours

Be what you need

Swerve away from all the negativity

Climb the dark mountain

Swelter in the dank heat

Sweat pouring

Dripped in my attempt to be what I'm not

What I can never be

And I can never see

The flaws that permeate as I walk

Down the crowded street

Shadowed figures following me

It would be Immaculate

If you called my name

A brief smile upon

the swell of your lips

But this

is only a fantasy

and you think nothing of me

I am not on the radar

not even the last name on this list

So, I'll be here on the mountain,

Clinging with my broken nails

Sweating and losing my grip

Thinking that being with you-God-

It would be Immaculate

heartbreak
