It is my greatest gift;

The ability to take what I know

And what I don't know

And drift with it.

Pictures form and they are all my own.

Writing helps me share,

But sometimes, I wish you could just directly dip

Into the technicolour visuals of my mind

And share with me what we see there

Simultaneously

Like a theme park ride.

It is a mash-up!

A collage of everything!

Speculated and experienced:

People viewed, people yet to see.

Places glimpsed, places tramped.

Emotions felt, emotions rejected.

And unexpectedly

You'll see yourself there, reader

For sure:

As you are just as much a figment of my imagination

As you are real.

You hear a shaky sigh on an unseen wind from some ethereal portal at the angles where the walls meet: "Wellllll-wroughhhht!" Is it but a figment of your imagination or the ghost of some other writer?!

  • This is lovely about imagination. Did you turn comments for Unbirthday off?

I love this, Rachel! Those first four lines resonated so strongly! The magic is in the drifting!

  • Yep, Iโ€™m definitely thereโ€ฆ crazy as always ๐Ÿ˜‚.

  • As I have long loved to remark, "Me? I'm not real. I'm just a figment of your imagination. Good grief, do you have a lousy imagination! Seriously, this is all the better you can do????" Yeah, you probably already read that from me since I included it as one of my greeting tattables.

All this time Iโ€™ve been a chimera, a figment, an illusion, minding my own business, believing wholeheartedly that I am the center of my world when in fact I existed on the periphery of yours?!! Suddenly I feel as mad as a hatter or as the Cheshire Cat!

Those last lines are so true. Your wonderful imagination on display!

Oh that mind collage - I do often wish people could see inside my brain and know me better that way.

  • No I'm not real ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Loved your poem!

  • This made me smile. Connection. Mirrors of Ourselves. Everyone an individual, but every individual merging as one. Our imaginations create separate connected realities. A great poem, Rachel. โšก๐Ÿ’™Bill โšก

  • We all need imagination and you have a wonderful one Rachel ๐Ÿ‘
