Illusions in the Silence
I try to awaken you into reality

Illusions in the Silence
Alone in the quiet, I hear your voice,
A whisper in shadows, a longing, a choice.
Your presence lingers, yet you’re not near,
A mirage I chase, a phantom I fear.
I reach out, but grasp only air,
Your absence a weight I cannot bear.
You stand before me, eyes blind to see,
The illusion of you, the truth of me.
In the mirror, your reflection fades,
A trick of the light, a dance of shades.
I call your name, but you don’t reply,
Lost in the echoes, I wonder why.
The mind plays games with what is real,
Crafting dreams I long to feel.
Yet in the end, I stand alone,
Chasing illusions, far from home.
Each day a battle, each night a test,
Fighting shadows, seeking rest.
But the more I struggle, the more I find,
The chains are forged within my mind.
I build these walls, then curse their height,
A prisoner in my own sight.
Yearning for freedom, yet too afraid,
To face the world I’ve self-made.
Perhaps one day, I’ll break these chains,
Step into the light, release the reins.
Until then, I’ll wander this land,
A soul adrift, with empty hands.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️

This could be a good lead in or ice breaker in a coping skills group.
