Ignorance

The Sonnet of Shadows

By Steve LancePublished 4 months ago 1 min read

Their ears receive the cry of “Never Again”

A lesson for eager young minds to discern

The sound of laughter fills hearts pure of sin

With hope and goodwill their noblest concern

But the news reports a troublesome tale

Of mass crimes filled with horror and despair

The pain and destruction, too close, too real

As hearts grow cold, and hope gives way to fear

No longer bound by the ignorance of youth

Aware of lies, and the mass delusions

The evidence too stark to hide the truth

Setting aside the common illusions

It's not who we are, it's not what we know

Stand up, speak out, for silence is the foe
