If only I could set you free from this torment that you feel,
Does everything that I do make it all seem worse?
Maybe I should go away and simply let it be, but
If only I could set you free from your painful universe.

If only I could answer why you don't feel a thing,
And I hesitate with my reply,
Do I tell you it's the path you've been,
If only I could help you laugh and maybe even cry.

If only I could help you be the person you once were,
To feel emotion, love, and feel secure again,
To show the world your are everything,
If only I could help you be the person you were then.

If only I could give you all the answers to your why,
If only I knew how to be, and what I should say,
To bring back to the person you always wanted to be,
If only I could find something new that maybe we could try.
- - ++ - -
If only I could show you what is inside my heart,
When you are not around, I sometimes just sit and cry,
There must be something else that might help you heal,
If only I could give you answers to your question -why?

Till next time,

[Authors note: 1 in every 8 people, or 970 million people around the world, were living with a mental disorder, with anxiety and depressive disorders. Some of these people are lucky and have support from family and friends. Others are less fortunate and have to try and fight these terrible disorders on their own.
If you know someone struggling, let them know you are there if they need you. That is often the first step to helping them in their battle, simply knowing someone cares.]

Yes! Thank you for that! I have a group a couple times a month at a mental health crisis shelter and many come in with depression, or anxiety or panic or a combination. Usually lots of trauma, grief and loss. I ask them to use art, laughter and tears for healing, as well as storytelling and the Native American culture. Other staff teach breathing techniques, and provide one to one time and other types of skills training, manage medications, and still other things that are helpful.
Your poem has somehow made me cry! It was so emotional and heavy on the heart... 🥺 Your poem is like a gift, a promise, a testament to all those; to show them that "YES, We're here," here for them. I wish I could be that comfort person for someone, I try but once I know that I've healed someone in their hard and sore time, I'll feel like a victory 🤍 I swear, sometimes all those people need is a shoulder and a few words of love from us... That's it! Huh, now you've made me emotional, I already have a heart even smaller than my fist 🤧
This is a deep emotional pain when a person is unable to alleviate the suffering and sorrow of a loved one. Your words carry self-doubt, making one feel that whatever is being done is not enough. And in this world, some people suffer from mental disorders, anxiety, and depression. For them, the support of family is extremely important. Your A/N is beautiful! 😊✨
We never know what people are going through and even if we can't help them, we can at least be kind. Loved your poem!
