If Not You, Then Who?

You need to Believe!

Sometimes it’s easy to think about quitting

When the going seems to be getting too tough,

But remember, quitting is only the beginning

The start of regret when failure becomes enough.

***

Believe in yourself, that person you best know

Keep striving for that one important success,

It’s inevitable that in life we will attract more no’s

Fight, stand tall, continue until you hear that yes.

***

Be gentle with yourself, gain your confidence

Love yourself for the mistakes you have made,

Be thankful for all your failures throughout life

Acknowledge all that you faced, although afraid.

***

Is there really ever such a thing as a mistake

Or was it a lesson all involved needed to learn,

Every so called mistake has made you, just you

In this, our life, we are all officially living interns.

***

Forgive your past self, love the person back then

You were perfect, as you were, in each moment,

Every thought and decision a lesson unfolding

All success and failures a necessary component.

***

Look in the mirror and really see the person there

Believe in who you’re meant to be, the perfect you,

You are authentic, an ideal precious one of a kind

Please try to believe because if not you, then who?

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

Loved the part where we always attract no in life but we should continue until we hear yes
