If Icarus were a city

By Emma PutnamPublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

If Icarus were a city,
Each window would be boarded.
“For lease” signs would litter the horizon.
His citizens would go hungry,
While he would be fed in surplus.
Profits would be sky high,
Morale would be subterranean.
“Nobody wants to work anymore!”
Competition for poverty wages
Your application was viewed
Resting on any flat surface
“If you don’t like it, move somewhere else!”
A population shift
The loop repeats.
The city’s wings melt as it reaches the sun.
