If I grow up I want to be a stained glass window.
All the broken pieces
From every time that I've been shattered
Bound by every dark and sticky moment in between
Bathed in sunshine, framed and set
To face to the first rays of dawn that streak across the morning's sky.
I want each colorful shard and sliver
To find its place in this translucent tapestry
This refractive mosaic
These pieces of me should mean something.
I want all the heartbreaks and dashed hopes
To add up to something more than just
A splintered spirit with fractured dreams.
I want them to form a picture, a story
A vibrant work of art about a life where there
Was love that did not give up,
Joy that found itself in unexpected places
Peace that flowed through curves and corners
A life that dared and danced and gave equal merit to
Learning from the past and changing the present
A life that let the light in but kept the cold and darkness at bay.
I want a portrait of kindness
A landscape of laughter
A collage of creativity, curiosity and compassion
An abstract of passion, purity and perseverance
A mural of memories, madness and
Something more precious than pretty words can confine
All the colors of my heart and home
Every shade of blue
Every tint of scarlet
Every golden gleam.
I have my rough breaks and sharp edges
But handled carefully and correctly
I am more than scrap and
Much less likely to cut you unwittingly...
If I grow up I want to be a stained glass window.
