If i wrote you a love song
how would you take it
excited and energetic or
sad and sympathetic
would there be new energy
or just awkwardness
have you ever looked at the moon
and wondered if i was looking too
there's so much you keep hidden
it all comes out at night tap dancing
on your mind with sharp metal edges
that accidentally on purpose injure you
mauled by memories
strangled by spoken words
love used for lynching
wielded as weapons
to keep you from recognizing reality
to keep you lost in leers and lure
that you may never know who you are
and what you mean to ember created
to bring an inanimate thing to life
to offer not the world
but my world
not to chase rainbows across the sky
but to ride them to the heavens
not to just watch the sunrise
but to blow kisses to her in her rising
not to just admire the sunset
but to touch her fire before she leaves
not to stand under a starry night
but to fly amongst them asking questions
and hear them answer in chorus
not to gaze at the moon
but to fly rings around him as he smiles
as we ask for a pocketful of sunlight
not to sit by the ocean
but to be carried away on gossamer tides
smoothly slipping between sensory
and sunlit oceans
and moonlit fields
where the heavens wait for us
to look up and whisper our secrets
so that they can keep us safe
it seems like so much
but yet a small offering
so i wonder yet still
if i was brave enough
if i was able
if i could verbalize
if i wrote you a love song
how would you take it?
oh, the fecundity of my musings...

Ah, wowβ¦ this one glows! πβ¨ I can feel the heart in every line β the reaching, the wanting, the careful hope. Youβve already sung the song, even if only on paper. The courage is in the asking, not the answer. π
