If I could walk
Into my dreams
I’d take with me
When I return from sleep…
The solitude
That hangs strewn
Somewhere between
The stars and moon.
The pain free
Version of me
That adventures carelessly
To destinations
Far from reach.
The imagination it takes
To unconsciously create
The utopian landscapes
Of artistic escape.
The weightlessness
Of a gravity free reality
And all the possibilities
When nothing anchors me
To human disability.
The freedom and release
From manmade obligations
And unrealistic expectations
And everything that comes
With forging
My own aspirations.
The fearlessness and gallantry
Afforded to me
Unwaveringly
In place of hesitation
And groundless insecurities.
But most importantly,
I’d take with me
The recollections
Of my yesterdays,
So the memories
Never fade away
With the inevitable decay
Of my aging brain.
