If I Could Know What I Know Now, Way Back When

Oh, what a different life I would have led……..or would I?

Time travel has been invented

I’ll head back all those years,

A message to my teenage self

That’ll dispel all her greatest fears.

***

Girl you’ve got this, don’t ever doubt

You are exactly as you need to be,

Life is going to be tough and rough

But you soldier your way free.

***

Every lesson you chose to learn

Will come to fruition, you’ll see,

You’ll meet the necessary Souls

That will teach you, sweet pea.

***

You’ve no need to worry or stress

No matter how hard it will get,

You are strong enough honey

You’ll win, you’ll lose, but don’t fret.

***

Every heartbreak and betrayal

Will give you the strength you need,

Watch people, hang back awhile

You’ll meet those who’ll deceive.

***

When the going does get tough

Just pause and hang on tight,

The life tools you need the most

Will turn up to make things right.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
