Pour sugar into the crevices of my soul
And let the dogs lick clean my wounds.
Will they fester and turn my blood sour
Or will they give birth to a novel bacteria
That can set my soul free of these binds?
.
I am bound, there is no mistaking it.
Secured to a concrete slab with chains
Lest I don't become another Icarus.
My feathers are stuck together with blood.
Bones stick out from my wings.
.
I'll rip my ankle off trying to fly away.
Passing within inches of the sun is worth
The fall back to the Earth, the ocean, the sea.
Let me go, let me fly, let me fall.
Then you may coat my bones in sugar.
.
Once I am dead, burned and soaked like Icarus,
Then you may dip me into the syrup of lies,
Lay me out to dry and harden in the sun
And prop me up as a warning to never dream
But for now, let me fly, let me fly, let me fly.

-Passing within inches of the sun is worth The fall back to the Earth, the ocean, the sea. Let me go, let me fly, let me fall.- Can't tell you how many times I've felt this... Expertly expressed Thank you!
Help, reading this made me so hungry 😅😅
Icarus rising.....this was such an awesome poem.
Silver strikes again! The yearning in this is so powerful. “ Let me go, let me fly, let me fall” and the last line were big standouts for me because your framed and built up to them so well!
Sweet Jesus! 😆 Love it! Probably a yeast infection on the way too... 😬😅
