I would leave it there

For Poppy's Prompts #9

I have no more aces to draw upon

you've burned my candle to nothing but the metal stub

in your careless musings

comings and goings

drops of poison into my open springwell

was I so hard to love, even as a friend?

I would have supported you through eternity

picking up your fallen inky black crow feathers

carefully fastening them into a crown of my own design

adding my gold and light, calling it beautiful

you fractured more than my heart

you stole a piece of my soul

discarding it into the mulch of your Cypress tree

knowing I would leave it there

heartbreak
