I Wonder Why
Everything was so perfect
Our love is perfect
We don’t have to try,
Everything’s so right
I wonder why.
***
These things just don’t happen
My life was just hell,
But you wandered along
And broke the spell.
***
On one special day
I’m to become your wife,
To stand by your side
For the rest of your life.
***
Then inside my womb
Our child will grow,
From the beauty of our love
And the seeds you will sow.
***
But I was right
To wonder why,
Our bubble may burst
And our dreams may fly.
***
Because children may not
Become part of our life,
But if this is so
I’ll still be your wife.

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
