I Will Walk With You

(been seeing a LOT of anti-bullying articles and it has inspired me! This is a trend I will jump on every time on time! I love everyone who can expand love for others, even if no one can quite see eye to eye.)

Hearts rendered,

Souls crushed.

Tears freely flowing.

A darkness that love somtimes can't even touch.

I have been there to witness

Unnecessary cruelty and hate.

And I can't help but wonder why the world is this way?

Sticks and stones may break bones,

but words aren't like toy guns,*

They do far more damage than any weapon can do.

For a bone can mend,

a cut can heal,

and flesh can grow,

But it's so much harder to repair the soul.

If treated like an animal for so long,

a person will become one.

So I will be a shield if I can.

For I have been called fat and ugly.

I have been told I am worthless.

I have been called stupid.

And I have been made irrelevant.

But I was lucky and I made it past.

And like a phoenix, I rose from ash.

And now I am here to say:

If you are black, Asian, white, Mexican - 0r any other race.

I will walk by your side and keep you safe.

I will walk with you.

If you are a beautiful flamboyant queer,

Or if you were born in the wrong body.

Any of my friends in the LGBQT+ club,

I will walk by your side and take the hits.

I will walk with you.

If you need an abortion to keep yourself safe,

or maybe your birth control didn't take,

On the way to those doors,

I will walk with you and shield you from the jeers.

I will walk with you.

If you are Autistic, Deaf, Blind, Depressed or just plain different.

I will walk by your side and love you just as you are.

I will walk with you.

Because I believe that love wins.

Even when it doesn't seem like it's winning,

and hate is darkening the sky and blocking out the sun.

At the end of the day, when hate is done,

all that's left is love.

In the destruction of the storm we pull together.

It's easier to be cruel,

and it's hard to love humans as they are.

But no matter who you are,

what you been through,

how different you believe from me,

what you look like...

I will walk with you.

I will walk with all of you.

And take you to the path of love.
