I was saving you, in every tear,

In every whispered word of fear.

You didn’t know, but in your fall,

I held the pieces, tried to call.

Through every silence, every night,

I fought the dark, became your light.

I stood between the hurt and thee.

But as I saved you, I lost my way,

Chasing shadows, keeping pain at bay.

In saving you, I forgot to breathe,

Forgot the weight that stayed beneath.

And now I stand, empty and bare,

I was saving you, but who saved me too?
