I want You to know

Some inspiring words for everyone, including You!

I want You to know

Yes, You

When You struggle

and it all feels

way too much

for anyone to take

When the pressure

exceeds that which

You signed up for

*

I see You

I know

*

I want You to know

Yes, You

Wondering what today

will bring to You

Wondering if good

will show its face

or if bad will continue

to block out the sunlight

through Your windows

*

I see You

I know

*

I want You to know

Yes, You

Grieving for a loss

that can't be filled

scared of getting hurt

by people

You are taught

to trust and love

unconditionally

*

I see You

I know

*

I want You to know

Yes, You

Whether your struggles

are mental, physical

health or money-related

or about everything

Whether You struggle

to stop slamming Your head

into a brick wall

taking those pills

jumping off the nearest

rooftop, bridge or cliff

or prising open the coffin

and taking the longest

most restful sleep

*

I see You

I know

*

I want You to know

Yes, You

Who tries so hard

to be the best version

the best iteration

of Yourself

despite all the world

and many of its inhabitants

throw in Your direction

causing devestation

When the fires won't stop

causing destruction

misery and woe

as the smoke

surrounds You

*

I see You

I know

*

I want You to know

Yes, You

each day

You get through it all

and see another sunrise

afternoon or evening

there are others

just like You

suffering in silence

screaming at a world

that just

doesn't want to listen

*

we see You

we know

*

don't let go

*

Author's Notes: Sometimes when I post things I feel really brave and want to explain what I was aiming for or whatever. Other times I want to just click submit and hide.

With this one, I feel it's important it has accompanying notes. I am aware that I write these kinds of poems often, so I am sorry if it sounds like a broken record.

But based on things going on in my own world, family, the world (Hawaii and so many other places) and things people have said in the comments section of other pieces, about my own struggles, themselves or people they know, I felt it was important to try and put this message out.

Mumble over. I hope this is recieved in the way it was intended.

Also, it may not be to everyone's taste, but rather than get too soppy, I love this song by Faith No More because it basically has a positive message, despite sounding aggressive, "What a day when you can look it in the face and hold your vomit"

This is very sweet. Thank you for the message I think I've needed lately.

"or prising open the coffin and taking the longest most restful sleep" WOW, I love this image. It seems to fit in that stanza for its theme, yet the act of prising open an existing coffin speaks to a return to death, not a first action towards it. Such depth here! As to the rest of this piece, also, wow. Your rhythm here is like a song, that repetition driving home the support you want to show others. I think you succeeded, by far. So uplifting and a wonderful read. Not a broken record at all!

Thanks. That's all, you know. Just thanks, for speaking this out.

  • Poppy’s shoutout brought me back and I still love this just as much as I did the first time!! 🥰🕊️✨

  • I still appreciate this every bit as much as I did before, reading it again following Poppy's recommendation, even if this isn't one of those days when I feel it.

Wow Paul, I don't even know what to say. This spoke so deeply to me. I had to reread it and read specific lines over and over, and I know I'll be coming back here in future days too. This was so powerful and personal. I want to specifically compliment the ending but all the other lines were amazing too. Thank you for writing this and I hope you're doing okay too.
