I WANT TO BELIEVE

Poetry

By Tessa Glasgow Published 5 years ago 1 min read

I want to believe

In the journey,

Not only the destination.

I want to believe

In goodness,

Not rotting trepidation.

I want to believe

In aliens,

Bigfoot

And mythological creatures.

In psychics

And magic

And the nature of preachers.

I want to believe

In an afterlife...

That isn’t Heaven or Hell.

In meditation.

Manifestations.

And a universe parallel.

In miracles,

Unity

And that equality will be

Cosmically achieved.

I want to believe

In loyalty

And unwavering dedication.

That I’m getting

The help needed

In a list of medications.

That demons and evil

Don’t live inside of me

And that people only speak

In words of honesty.

I want to believe wishes

Made on falling stars

And that pinky promises

Are a sacred covenant

Of the heart.

I want to believe

In second chances...

That there’s such a thing

As story book romances.

And that joyous moments

Outweigh the joyless,

But most of all

I want to believe...

That the purpose

Of this all

Isn’t pointless.
