words are not useful anymore

i release them, they never come back

i wallow in this pit, rotting at the core

.

honest excuses i planned to implore,

whisper in the void, becoming artifacts

words are not useful anymore

.

we'll never return to that noble shore,

where promises and futures interact

i wallow in this pit, rotting at the core

.

your untimely demise erased the score

apologies go silent, no more contact

words are not useful anymore

.

finality is certain, no chance for encore

reality stings like eyes meeting cognac

i wallow in this pit, rotting at the core

.

strength withers to nothing—recovery is a chore

destinies departed, renouncing every contract

words are not useful anymore

i wallow in this pit, rotting at the core

This is so true. I feel like I am writing constantly, maybe trying to hold on to something It’s hard, scary to surrender to the fact that (words are not useful anymore). Beautiful work

Is this your first Villanelle for this challenge, Lamar? Great work! ‘Words are not useful anymore’ hits hard and I know that feeling and silence that follows only too well. Good luck on the challenge!

Life is hard most of the time and really choosing the right words in any way or situation is one of the hardest things anyone can do or say or write. Great job.
