I've Seen Men Like You Before

Haven't you?

When I met you I was wary,

I’ve seen men like you before,

Handsome, kind and dashing,

And irresponsible to the core,

But you showed me you were different,

You read my books and brought me flowers,

You said “I want forever”

On the phone we talked for hours,

You made me feel so chosen,

And then I gave you a chance,

I wish I had looked closer,

I missed your scheming glance,

Together we made memories,

We made promises and a home,

You made me believe in a future,

But oh how your eyes did roam,

I thought you were my hero,

The person of my dreams,

Then the kindness cracked,

A facade ripped at the seams,

Your mask fell off much to my shock,

It shattered on the floor,

I wiped a tear and should have known,

I’ve seen men like you before.
