i used to hate red until you
Photo by Tim Marshall on Unsplash

i hate the color red

because red means power

an enemy’s crimson

a bloody fist

a maroon slit

red is violence

red is anger

red was fear

Until, you.

Now i love red

Rose cheeks from laughter

Blush post-staring contest

Tyrian bruises healing

Under Candy Apple touch

Red is peace

Red is joy

Red was love

Until, You.

Wine stains on the sheets

Nervous raspberry hands

Trembling scarlet lips

Cherry splatters against eggshell walls

Flames licking open wounds

Red was hot

Red was lust

Red died.

i really thought red would be different

red is bold

red is alive

red is life

yet red destroyed mine

maybe

maybe red was never met to be mine

so i hate the color red

i despise everything the color red stands for

because red is no longer fear or love

red is no longer violence or peace

red is nothing.

Because you took it all from me.
