I remember,
By the light of that sunset,
I remember the heat.
The way the sun came through
The windows outlined in old brick.
I remember that first kiss still,
But I'll always wonder if you do to.
The warmth of your arm
Supporting my curly head of hair.
I remember the silence
That came with having no second thoughts.
The moment our pause in conversation
Turned into a shared resolute stare.
Do you remember leaning in?
I can still close my eyes and feel you there.
No air conditioning on a late summer day,
The heat of the room could not rival
The heat of that moment
When your hand brushed the hair from my face.
The moment we first dropped our guards.
I hope you remember, too,
For once feeling so safe.
