I Spy: A Cinquain

A short poem

By Raven DiamondPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I spy

Forest's green eye

Gem's hanging in the sky

Beauty of nature in my eyes

I spy

Backstory: This is a more unusual piece of work. I wanted to try out some new story telling methods or learn a new style of writing. I ended up stumbling upon a poem called a Cinquain which is not to be confused with a Haiku.

Cinquain rules:

They have to be 5 lines long. They have 2 syllables in the first line, 4 in the second, 6 in the third, 8 in the fourth line, and 2 in the last line. They don't need to rhyme, but you can rhyme if you want.

Haiku rules:

They are composed of only 3 lines. First line of Haiku has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the third has 5 syllables.
