I see you…
The real you.
You are like a chameleon weaving your personality to blend with those around you. Even your voice changed with your company.
It’s what you do. How you are good at what you are good at. You read people. Their needs, desires, fears, all of it a window to their soul and you feed it what it craves.
But beneath it all, I see you. My brave lion fearful of failure. You fear letting people down. You fear not meeting expectations. You fear disappearing like you don’t matter.
You matter to me.
I reach out to ground you, bring you back from this pedestal you have placed beneath you for fear that you will not make a difference or be seen. You make more of a difference than you will ever know.
I see you…
The real you.
People see the life of the party, the socialite, the fun drunk. Working a room slick as oil you move from one to another leaving an impression wherever you go.
But beneath it all I see you. You want connection and meaning. You want to feel validated. You want to be held. You want to be loved.
I love you.
I saw you when you were nothing and the world judged you and left you to fall through the cracks. I stayed by your side when the world was burning around you and you had lost your way. I held your hand and showed you compassion, honesty, faithfulness. I said I do and never looked back. I faced the shadows and dared them to overcome me.
I see you.
I choose the real you. Come shadows or sunshine.
I choose you.
