I Saw Myself

In the rear view mirror

staring at myself

getting lost

in wide

twitching eyes

and gaping

contorted mouth

wild flowing hair

pinned back

still flying round

my tear streaked

sweating face

like a cross section

of a sedimentary lake bed

monstrous noises

terrorize me

screaming?

laughing?

no way of telling

camera flashes

temporarily

erase my countenance

from the window

and chrome bits

no matter how

I cry and plead

there is no escape

no assistance

that is something

from the movies

or TV

no high speed chase

to find me

they know where I am

they let me go
