I Once Thought That Love ...

was fickle, but it's indestructible.

I once thought that love was just a feeling.

Bubbly and bubble gum pink;

Frills, furs and even fetishes.

A passive possum playing dead to problematic poison; refusing to acknowledge the possible price of pride.

Then I got humbled

And encountered the indestructible love of God.

A love that is unafraid to be my enemy until I breathe again.

For I have been dead before in a zombie body hoping nobody could see I was running out of steam.

Out of zeal to stay alive.

To stay afloat on the ocean of this experiential life.

But He convinced me to stay alive and resuscitated me.

I am here to testify

Of a love that sought my consumption.

And like the burning bush I was consumed yet not destroyed.

Versions of me fell off like snake's skin, dying to the disease of my sin and shame.

Yet His resurrection is always greater.

Metamorphosed out of the grave, dust tumbling off the coffin.

A hand stretched out in praise to my Creator

Because He freed my mind from the addiction to death.

I am here to testify

That I have seen a love that wages war on behalf of the silent bound and avenges the mortification of souls.

I have seen a love that floods the desert of dry heart with blood and water that flows from His side.

I have seen a love that walks on an ocean of tears to place joy and company inside a lonely one.

I have seen a love that walks through walls of trust issues and causes perspectives to ascend to the heavens, where He reigns over all things.

I have seen that joy lives on in the chest of the Almighty

And that laughter is warfare against the spirit of depression; a garment of praise is a weapon against the spirit of heaviness.

I have seen the safety of His compassion and the stature of His mercy and grace.

Now I laugh in the face of danger, for who can stop the love of God?

This same God who holds all life in His fist and the universe in His hands?

He who is the Beginning and the End? The First and the Last?

He who has all power and all knowledge? He who has all seeing eyes and understands all things?

Who even dares to stop Him?

He is able to destroy, But He saves.

He is able to condemn, But He delivers.

He is able to end, But He continues.

No, love is not just a feeling. It is the power of God.

All these things I've seen, I will see again. For Love is endless and eternal.
