I Never Wore My Yellow Dress

by Katarina Tyler

By Katarina TylerPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

I won’t talk too much and

forget about my birthday

teach me how to love

your palm across my face

why doesn’t it feel

as bad as it sounds to say

I haven’t fought as long as you

i’m not that afraid

you must like to watch my bruises form

you must like me blue

i never wore my yellow dress

your stomach turned too soon

I never cry out

I sleep in the next room

what i thought was warm morning is

mad drunk afternoon

I used to be your bird

and you closed your hand so slowly

You win baby, you win

you’ll never really know me

sad poetry
