I Never Knew Love Like This

I never knew feelings such as this.

I didn’t know I could love someone so much.

Each child that was born opened my heart a little bit more.

It seemed like it would take forever for this day to come.

How crazy is it to think that I miss the days of the new baby smells.

The feedings, changing diapers, the sleepless nights, and everything else.

I remember the first steps, the slips, the falls, and all.

One of you never really crawled.

The first time I had to leave you all at daycare.

Oh, the anxiety I would feel for each of you!

Now that’s not something that I miss.

I try not to think about that for it makes me so blue.

You all have grown so much physically, emotionally, and spiritually to.

Even my baby boy is a teen that has been through so much.

Being a boy-mom is always a great thing.

You all have brought me so much joy.

Watching you learn life lessons, playing soccer, and playing in the band so far.

Now you all are growing up and doing your own thing.

Just be careful because life is so fragile.

Some folks don’t see you for the good that you bring.

They only see the color of your skin.

Some will view your kind heart as a weakness.

Even in that just keep growing, learning, and the sky is the limit.

You are my three young black men sent from above.

You are the answers to my prayers for you know the struggle it took for me to conceive.

To hear you laugh, see you smile, and play the jokes on each other.

And to be there when your heart is broken is my desire.

With all that it is going on, I still say being a boy mom is great.

Most of all being your mom is the greatest.
