I Made Her Cry

A Poem

You may not believe it,

But I was the one who made her cry.

You see, I chose to stay faraway,

Instead of being by her side.

I had to keep myself from going

So many times I thought about coming,

But I had to let her be,

The kind of person she could become.

By my side she could have stayed laughing,

But then she would have stopped growing,

And you don't know as I do,

How greatly she could shine.

I have loved her enough to stay silent,

When my voice could have soothed her aching heart.

I knew she would break, but I knew she'd come rising,

And it is only by breaking that her heart could take flight!
