I'm Not Afraid

but i can be scared

i’m not afraid of dying

but i am scared of the dark

i do not fear the life i have left

as long as i still have the spark

i’m not afraid of waiting in line

but i am scared of missing out

and maybe you might hear me whine

but i’m not gonna scream and shout

i’m not afraid of being lonely

but i am scared of being alone

i’m not sitting staring blankly

at an ever silent phone

i’m not afraid of hamburgers

but i am scared of macca d’s

grease trap altar of obesity

the food equivalent of sleaze

i’m not afraid of things that go bump in the night

but i am scared some of those bumps are mine

and that’s probably why i leave on the light

because none of this will ever be fine

i’m not afraid of coming last

but i’m scared of being first

and the best of me the rest you see

just goes from bad to worse
