Every step had been agonizing
painful, dramatic
I was dying;
with out realizing.
That was the pavement
moments ago.
I can still see the
scorched marks where
my feet rested
in between
steps, trying
to extinguish flames
before returning
instantly into
the inferno.
NOW
Every step is improving.
The leather on
my boots is
flame retardant.
The air is cloudless
and doesn’t
ruminate
of my burning soles.
My focus is shifting.
What is the world when
I’m not ablaze?
