I’m going to whisper

Carefully, listen carefully, I don’t repeat anything twice

By Melissa IngoldsbyPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

laying here

I see you

I pull your hair over your ear

I whisper something

It’s not sensual

It’s not a “thing”

It’s real cause I’m here

And so are you.

I’m logical

I know it’s not true

We belong to others, and kept it so,

It was not

Like it could’ve been

Unless we lived in another place

In a new world

In a memory that existed before

And kept reliving over and over again,

I’m

Going to whisper,

Whisper softly

And I’m not going to repeat myself anymore

What we had was better than any human relationship

Than a label

Than a name

It wasn’t a whisper

Until you made it one.

I’ll whisper

Love can be many things,

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

Love can be true friendship, even

If we never

Whisper again.
