Why Do I Have To Wake Up?

Waves lap one another as the sun kisses my skin,

The taste of Pineapple juice is no sin,

Sweet voices in the air as the seagulls sing,

Squishing sand between my toes is my favorite thing!

Smells of donuts, waffles, fish, and chips fill the air,

Letting the world go by,

Tomorrow's chores are not today's!

The shrill of an alarm makes me jump,

I give it such a loud thump!

What is so important that I have to be disturbed from my

peaceful haven where things are less absurd?

Real life is a bitch, not a beach!

I'm comfortable here,

Why do I have to wake up?

You've got that right, Carol. Life is tough... But nobody told us it would be easy. Good poem with a meaningful message. Great job as always!!! 😎
