I'm Choking

on loneliness

By Emily McGuffPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

Sometimes the feelings

Snake up my throat

Clog the tube that feeds

My lungs

Choke the veins that pump

My blood

-

And I wonder

If this loneliness

Of the soul

Will ever abate

-

Will I know a day

when I long to come home?

Will I know an hour

When I can wait no longer

For the embrace of my love?

-

I have known love,

But the loss of it is

The taste sticking to my tongue.

-

And I’m choking on it.
