I'm black, so my shadow has a shadow.
But I'm as deep as the Red Sea, and these fools are in kiddie pools with a paddle, how shallow.
My skin tone is a cross between progress and loss, so I feel without trying the object of their faults.
I'm black, welcome to my struggle.
I say that with a chuckle because the trials I've endured so my spot is secured, could’ve gotten me into trouble.
But I'm smarter than the average.
Not to outsmart or outwit, but to survive in a maze, where it's so easy to get lost in the labyrinth.
They say black is symbolic,
But I say black is hypnotic, because the fact that I rap, quote facts and spit knowledge, will put you in a haze where you won't think back to the fact that I skipped college.
I'm black, welcome to my universe.
If my hue was first on the color wheel and didn't ask how every other color feels, it still wouldn't change your perception of, or how you view a hearse;
Because in some eyes, black means death.
My pigment won't change the past, but it's tragic how our Queens didn't last, because they said we don’t have any black Kings left.
You can view me as a ghetto hood, who's overly cocky,
If you let me lose you would know how to stop me,
An unchained animal who 'rolls with a posse',
But when I look in the mirror, I know that is not me.
I'm black, welcome to the clarification.
My skin is dark because it's full of melanin,
The universe's medicine.
I'm hell bent on demonstrating how this God body is heaven sent.
The largest part of the evidence is sitting in the heavens since ever since.
My blackness soaks up that sun's rays and fuels my body like a fill up at the BP.
So You know what it is when you see me:
Yes, I'm dominant!
Yes my chest is poked out!
I am not my ancestors!
You will not get “hoped” out!
Yes I am intelligent!
Yes my head is lifted up!
Yes I am well-spoken!
Yes, I'm gifted as....US!
This perilous nation decided that they would remember 9/11 but bury enslavement.
But they gave us Barack Obama, that's so glaring a statement.
They gave us equal rights.
They gave us the right to vote.
They gave us the chance to sit in restaurants and eat with white folks.
They gave us better jobs, bigger houses and more funds.
They gave us free speech and the right to own guns.
No!
Everything WE have, WE fought and died for.
Got shot in the back and paralyzed for.
Lost a leg at Sea and turned the tide for.
Hit tracks, broke records like Flo Jo and took it in stride for.
Punched and knocked out opposition from the other side for.
And got in formation with Bey, to see the destruction of eventual efforts the G.O.V tried to break down Black Pride for.
That's what I ride for!
Because I'm black, and you're welcome.
