I Love Him Still

TW: Abuse

By Briana FrederickPublished 6 years ago 1 min read
Art by Adele K.

I fell in love with a monster,

who wore human skin,

he had a smile as sweet as summer air.

I see him for what he truly is,

a beast with a silver tongue, but

I love him still.

They never see him for what he is.

I'm blessed to be his,

he is a man of greatness.

They tell me how lucky I am, so,

I love him still.

I see myself is a different way,

I am ugly and repulsive.

He tells me everyday,

I am not worthy of his love but

I love him still.

His smile draws me in,

each time I try to get away.

He always lures me back.

And when my skin turns a thick, purple, and black,

I feel beautiful, and

I love him still.
