I long to 🔥 burn, as a 🔥 fire does set upon a wick.

I long to 🔥 burn, like deep and dark coal,

on some worn and old, red with rust 🚢 ship.

+

I long to 🔥 burn, even when, your 🔥 fire for me has felt cold and dim.

I long to 🔥 burn, like a heap of wood, so wet from gas,

you spin and turn to ask, did that wood just come back from a swim?

+

I long to 🔥 burn, like the July ☀️ sun has for all its time.

I long to burn and long to burn for you,

Even if I can’t go back and make you mine. 💔

++++

Thank you for taking the time to read “I Long to Burn.” I think this has been one of the more challenging Vocal challenges, but I rather enjoyed it!
